Safety Information
Before the flight, we will provide you with a detailed flight briefing to include all aspects of the flight. Please feel free to ask the pilot anytime if you have any concerns. Pilots are happy to answer questions and explain the principles behind balloon flight to passengers. It’s fun and relaxing for passengers to understand the process and procedures of riding in a hot air balloon.
Here at Asheville Balloon Company, we take every precaution to ensure your safety. The large balloon system can carry up to six passengers. We fly Cameron Balloons and they are considered to be the finest and safest hot air balloon on the market.
The pilot will brief passengers on safety and procedures before they launch. During the flight, passengers are encouraged to let the pilot know of other balloons, or obstructions such as power lines, ditches, or fences that he may not be aware of. For safety reasons the pilot may have to cancel due to wind and/or rain, and your flight can be rescheduled to the next mutually convenient day.
There are possible risks with all forms of flight. It is important for passengers to understand the risks of personal injury, or loss of life, or damage, or loss of property. The landings are most critical when higher winds exist. In higher wind, a balloon may drag, bounce or tip. Typically though you will land softly, “standing up”.
Passengers are required to sign an “Acknowledgement and Release” waiver prior to flight. All of our pilots have many years of experience in ballooning and safety is our top priority. We only fly when the wind and weather permits us to fly. Feel free to ask questions.
